Welcome to the Camellia Club at the Fair Close Centre in Newbury, dedicated to enhancing the lives of people with dementia.

About the Club:

  • Provides a stimulating environment for people in the earlier stages of dementia, and respite for their carers.
  • Also suitable for people with mild cognitive impairment.

Benefits:

  • Improves independence, confidence, and reduces anxiety through social interaction, exercise, and activities.
  • Offers respite for carers, ensuring their loved ones are in a safe place.

Typical Day:

  • Starts with tea, coffee, and biscuits.
  • Activities include news discussions, music, games, art, crafts, quizzes, and gentle exercise.
  • A two-course hot meal is served at midday.
  • Use of Digital Activity Tables for cognitive engagement.

What We Offer:

  • Peaceful, happy environment.

What We Don't Offer:

  • Administration of medication.
  • Personal care.
  • Eating assistance.
  • Management of challenging behaviours.

Costs

£65 to include a hot meal, coffee, tea and biscuits.  For the Thurs short-stay session it is £30 to include coffee, tea and biscuits.

We will contact the person and the family/carer to take payment by telephone prior to each visit.

Activity Period

Tuesday and Thursday: 10:00-15:00. Thursday short-stay: 13:30-15:00. Plan to add a third day soon.
