Carer's Allowance

Last updated: 07/11/2023

You could be entitled to Carer's allowance if you care for someone at least 35 hours a week and they get certain benefits.  It can affect other benefits you or the person you care for are receiving.

You do not have to be related to, or live with, the person you care for.

You do not get paid extra if you care for more than one person.

If someone else also cares for the same person as you, only one of you can claim Carer’s Allowance.

Visit the GOV.UK website to find out if you are eligible and how to make a claim.  You will also find information about other benefits you may also be able to apply for.

If you are not eligible you may be eligible for Carer's Credit.

For all other Carers and disability benefits.
