Early Years Private, Voluntary & Independent Settings

1: How does the setting identify children with additional needs or SEND?

Each child has a daily diary with observations. Daily discussions with parents. Any concerns are discussed.

2: How will I be informed / consulted about the ways in which my child is being supported?

I inform parents everyday about what each child has done each day. I work closely with my childrens parents.

3: How will the setting adapt the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum for my child's needs?

I work to the EYFS. Each child is individual and the activities are based on their age and ability.

4: What teaching strategies does the setting use for children with additional needs or learning difficulties?

I would discuss with parents and and would seek training if required.

5: What additional support does the setting provide for children with additional needs or SEND?

I provide activities for the childrens ability.

6: How will the setting monitor my child's progress and how will I be involved in this?

I use daily diaries and parents see these and are asked to put their input into them.

7: How do you ensure children with additional needs or SEND can be included in the same activities as other children, including trips?

All children go to local park and library sessions and each childs individual need is meet.

8: How accessible is the building for children with mobility difficulties / wheelchair users?

My house is not currently suitable for wheelchair use.

9: How will you support my child's transition to a new setting or school?

I work closely with a group of childminders and as your child will have already become friends with other children that are starting nursery/school it makes it a more enjoyable experience. Your child will already have been going to the nursery/school to take/pick up other child. Therefore they will know the environment.

10: How does the setting assess the overall effectiveness of its SEN provision and how can parents / carers take part in this evaluation?

Observations are recorded and then we look at next steps. Parents are always involved in the discussion.

11: Who should I contact if I am considering registering for a place at the setting?

Diana Folley

01189 305133

or

dianafolley@gmail.com

12: What arrangements does the setting have for feedback from parents / carers, including compliments and complaints?

I have good relationships with my parents and we discuss any issues. I have written recommendations and my parents know I have a complaints procedure/book.
