Joanne Wernham (Childminder)
Available for key worker staff during the COVID-19 period
My name is Jo, I am an Ofsted registered childminder who lives in Thatcham with my husband and 16yr old daughter. We live on a quiet cul-de-sac on the kennet Lea estate near the train station. I provide a home from home childcare setting, loving, friendly, safe and non smoking environment. I enjoy keeping fit, boxercise sessions and love skiing in the winter months.
Myself, my husband ( John) and daughter all hold an enhanced DBS check. I have completed the childminding registration course and I am Paediatric First Aid trained. I follow the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage)Framework and take regular observations to ensure your child is progressing. I have a level 3 diploma for Children & Young People's workforce. I am keen to take any steps to improve & increase my effectiveness as a Registered Childminder. I have public liability insurance with Morton Michel and hold a full clean driving license.
Our garden is fully enclosed and has plenty of toys to play with. We use the garden in all weather conditions and we also have a park a few minutes walk away. We also visit Farms, Toddler groups, Music groups, Walks and Messy play.

Early Years Private, Voluntary & Independent Settings
In the setting I observe, track the child aginst the EYFS guidelines, also working with parents concerns or worries. Its important to work with the parents.
I report each day with a daily diary, whatsapp photos (with permission from parents) termly reports and working with parents as required.
I plan and adapt play to the childs ability and development needs, use next steps to go further after observations.
All children will be assessed on their individual needs and work closely with the parents and other professionals.
Children are supported as individuals, I discuss with parents to find out names of any professionals involved with their child.
I use on on-line system called babydays which parents have their own log in to access and add to should they choose to.
I do not exclude any child. I will adapt the activity/outing so everyone can participate.
I will complete a transition report for the new setting so they can see where the child is at and a bit about them. I will also read stories to the child, talk about new settings and if parents requested take them for a visit.
I send home parental questionnaires for feedback on how I can improve my setting. Working with parents sharing information with other professionls (with permission)
