Coffee and a chat with Coffee Companions at the Corn Exchange

Last updated: 27/09/2022

Coffee Companions is for anyone, anywhere at any time. Wanting to put the paper down, turn off the phone, and just have a chat with your coffee and know you are not intruding.  It is a welcoming environment where people can expect to find kindness and a friendly face to chat with, if they would like to.  Coffee Companions is a social enterprise and offers people sat in coffee shops anywhere the opportunity to strike up a friendly conversation and maybe make a new friend.

Coffee Companions ‘Chat Mats’ are a wonderful and simple idea which remove attempts at trying to ‘mind-read’ whether someone sitting in a coffee shop would be open to chatting, or would rather be left undisturbed. Carry them with you and when sat having your cuppa, your Chat Mat can display ‘Say Hello’ if you’d be happy to be approached for a natter, or ‘Not Today’ if you’d prefer some privacy on that occasion.

The people that go along do so because this is what they hope to find and be part of – and those attending may have been in your shoes when they visited for the first time, so will appreciate just how you feel!

Launching 5 Sept 2022, the Coffee Companions Meet-Up Monday sessions take place in the Corn Exchange in-house cafe. Come along for some company and a chat and an opportunity to make new friends.  Just turn up!

By stopping by our café and bar you will also be supporting the Corn Exchange – every purchase you make helps us to deliver the range of shows, classes and events for all of the community. We work collaboratively with local caterers to provide seasonal offers, and we look forward to welcoming you. Our venue is dog friendly.
