Welly Boot Lodge Day Nursery is situated in the heart of Tilehurst providing early years childcareand education to the community of Tilehurst and beyond. Welly Boot Lodge Nursery offers outstanding care and education for early years children combining the Montessori method with forest schooling to provide children with the very best foundations to learn upon.  Children who attend Welly Boot Lodge will be seen as individuals and their progress within their learning and development will be monitored closely to make sure each child develops within the early years foundation stage prime and key areas. Children with additional needs will be cared for inclusively making sure that we can provide the specialist care needed for each child.
 Welly Boot Lodge staff have a passion to support every child's learning and development and to prepare them for their transition to school. We pride ourselves with the ability to offer an outstanding education whilst nurturing and caring for our children. We have created a community here at Welly Boot Lodge that would welcome future families with open arms. Welly Boot Lodge Day Nursery prides itself upon inclusiveness. Welly Boot Lodge is committed to working with parents and carers to better support children. We will be monitoring each child's development by making daily observations within each area of the early years foundation stage. Whilst observing children, we can gather the evidence needed to support SEN concerns or additional needs the child may have. We shall then highlight these concerns with the parents and work together to put the correct support in place. This may include adaptations within the setting, adapting our teaching methods and working with other outside professionals.Welly Boot Lodge will provide each child with an online learning journey using the portal - Tapestry. This can be shared with parents daily to create a great working relationship and to give parents the opportunity to play a key role within their child's learning and development. We also offer a  hard copy of reports and SEN reports to provide a book of evidence that can be shared with other professionals as and when needed. Welly Boot Lodge will provide 2 year old progress checks. Welly Boot Lodge will offer termly learning and development short reports to all parents. Welly Boot Lodge is committed to making any formal reports needed to help support children with additional needs including support plans, EHCP and attending Pep meetings. Welly Boot Lodge uses the Montessori method of learning with their many Montessori resources. Children will learn with the resources and be active learners throughout each area of the Early Year's Foundation Stage. Montessori resources are practical and sensorial and are an excellent aid for children with additional needs to have a hands on approach to their learning and development. Welly Boot Lodge will also adapt resources for children with additional needs and how the staff present the activities. We also offer forest school learning activities and we very much theme our learning based around the seasons and the world around us. Children will learn a varied curriculum based around many cultures. Children will also become active young gardeners and farmers as they help to grow their own vegetables and fruits, tending to our nursery vegetable garden.Welly Boot Lodge uses the Montessori Method, Forest schooling, Picture Communication, to help aid and support children with SEN and additional needs. Speech and language strategies - we are currently taking part in the speech and language champion course to become champions for salt within the local area Yoga - to help regulate our emotions dance and story workshops Animal therapy we work closely with other professionals to help bring the world of learning to life for all our children especially children with SEN and additional needsWelly Boot Lodge will provide support both educationally and with physical care providing that we can meet each child's need's within the setting. We shall always liaise with parents and make sure that needs are met on an individual basis. We shall work closely with the wider professionals that are involved within the child's care and we cam make professional referrals and advise on future help that maybe needed. Kellie has much experience in supporting children with SEN and is always happy to advise parents and support the family with the wider ongoing care and educational needs. Welly Boot Lodge has much pride in its ability to support children with SEN and additional needs. We make continued evaluations of our professional practice and access CPD training throughout the year. Staff are trained to a high level of knowledge and are always wanting to improve their skills to impact the child in the best possible way. Staff work closely with the families and we ask parents for feedback continually throughout the term. This is done face to face with daily debriefs at handover and within meetings on a more private and formal scale. We work closely with other professionals and seek their feedback and support throughout the time that the child spends with us.

  • Childcare 2 How will I be informed / consulted about the way sin which my child is being supported

    Welly Boot Lodge Nursery utilises the online learning journal portal - Tapestry. Tapestry connects parents and staff daily within the observations staff make upon each child. Daily/ weekluy updates will enable parents to observe tehir child's development and helps to support great partnership working and continuity of care. 
    If we have SEN concerns we shall contact parents directly and arrange an appropriate time to meet to disccuss the concerns formily. We shall then continue to liase with parents and other professionals to best support the child's indivuadal needs and develompment. We shall make termy reports, SEN support plans, create supporting evidence for other professionals, support EHCP plans and support PEP meetings. A child with SEN will be under the highly qualified SENDco team.

    Welly Boot Lodge Nursery is committed to adapting our practice for the individuals needs of a SEN child. Inclusivness is of high priorty. We shall make relevant adpatations within the environment, within the resoursces we use and within the way we care for SEN children.

    Welly Boot Lodge has highly trained and committed SEN staff. We shall provide a specialist approach to each child's indivual needs. We shall assess the needs of the child, install an action plan to make sure that the child's care and development is well supported. This will ensure progress is made by the child and is well monitored. We shall use all of our learning support strategies above to support the child and ensure that other professionals are a part of the child's learning journey. We are committed to working with other professionals and parents to put in all the necessary strategies for the child to make progress and have the very best learning experience. We want our children to succeed to their fullest potential.

    We shall monitor daily through our observations and make termly termly reports upon progress. We shall report any concerns we have to parents formly and invite parents to parent meetings to discuss their child's developement. We shall sign post parents to other professionals and Parents will take a leading role within their child's journey. Parents know their child best and we promote outstanding parent partnership working.

    Adaptions to our setting, our resources and how we care for children of SEN will be accessed and put in place. Children with SEN will attend our outings just like any other child making sure we risk assess and cater for the child's needs. We shall work closley with parents to make this happen.

    Welly Boot Lodge is committed to transitioning children successfully to school. We pride ourselves in working closely with local schools and their Sen teams. We have a highly succesfully record of transitioning children with SEN to school. It is our priority to transition our SEN children with the skills, tools and supporting evidence to help support a bright and happy future within education.

    Welly Boot Lodge staff make daily reflections upon their practice and hold staff meetings to reflect upon best practice. Parents wil be invited to give their evaluations upon their child's SEN journey within our termly reports and feedback option.
