Your Choice Services are part of West Berkshire Mencap, which is a local charity originally known as Newbury Mencap and founded in 1954. YCS manage supported living services in Newbury.

If you need extra support, but want to live as independently as possible, then Your Choice Services is your solution. You will live in your own private self-contained flat with a lounge, bedroom, bathroom and kitchen area, but in one of our shared houses so you can take part in group activities with your housemates in the communal lounge, kitchen and grounds, or out in the community.

Our vision is a world where people with a learning disability are valued equally, listened to and included.

We want everyone to have the opportunity to live a full and rewarding life and reach their full potential.

    We acknowledge referrals as soon as we receive them. When we have a waiting list we will endeavour to accept new service users as soon as we have a suitable vacancy.

  • General 8 Feedback and complaints procedure

    The service conducts an annual customer satisfaction survey which provides an opportunity to provide feedback and comments on the service. However, we are keen to ensure that any issues are addressed by ourselves at the earliest opportunity and complaints and compliments should be addressed in the first instance to the head of the service verbally or by phone / email as follows: Name: Michelle Greenfield Telephone: 07812 496093 Email: michelle.greenfield@wbmencap.org.

  • General 9 How will I know my child is safe using this service

    We have a rigorous recruitment procedure that ensures our staff are fully vetted. Our staff members have full enhanced DBS disclosures which cover adults and children. The DBS are renewed every 3 years. We also complete Individual Risk Assessments for everybody who attends the service, all activities are risk assessed and all staff are fully trained in a variety of subjects on a regular basis, including Health and Safety Awareness, Fire Awareness, Safeguarding, Medication Administration, Epilepsy, First Aid, Equality and Diversity, Autism, Infection Control and Privacy & Dignity. West Berkshire Mencap complies with all Health and Safety requirements and all associated legislation. Your Choice Services fully supports best practice and provides annual training refreshers to staff.
