Supported Volunteering at the Community Furniture Project

Back to results

The Furniture Project provide opportunities to volunteer and train in practical activities at the Training and Community Support Centre which is based at the The Community Furniture Project, Bone Lane, Newbury.

The Project runs a charity that passes on furniture, electrical and other household goods to people in need.  As part of this, the Project offers the opportunity to learn a range of skills including woodwork, electrical repair, bicycle repair, warehousing, cookery and customer service.  Volunteers can choose to try all these activities or concentrate on one area of interest.

The Furniture Project also offers accredited training in many of these activities, so volunteers can get certificates for learning some skills.  Volunteers will usually work in small groups, with the support of a Mentoring Officer, in a safe, supportive, friendly environment and get the benefit of knowing that the activities carried out will help others in the local community.
