Consultation: Proposed development of additional resourced provision in West Berkshire

You may be aware that, as part of the SEND Strategy 2018-2023, West Berkshire Council is proposing to develop additional local educational provision for children and young people with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) in respect of Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH), who may also have a diagnosis of Autism.

We are consulting with all stakeholders about our proposal to develop new resourced provisions. Please find attached a consultation document which outlines our proposal to develop a 42 place resourced provision for secondary aged learners.

The consultation period begins at 9am, 9 November 2020 and closes on 20 December 2020. If you would like to share your views about the development of this resource you can respond to the consultation online at: (please note that this site will not be live until the consultation period begins).

Alternatively, you can email:

If you would like to request a paper copy, please contact the SEN Admin Team on 01635 519713.

A Zoom Q and A session will be facilitated by the West Berkshire Parent Carer Forum and Local Authority officers on Wednesday 11th November from 11.30am – 12.30pm and again on Thursday 12th November from 7.30pm-8.30pm.  Please use the link below to book and contact Fiona Worby  if you have any difficulty doing so.

Thank you for taking the time to respond to this consultation. Your views are valued and all feedback will be used to inform the Council’s decision making. We are very keen for this project to be co-produced with all stakeholders, including children and young people. Their views will be sought separately to this formal consultation.

Yours Sincerely,

Jane Seymour
