Carebus - accessible, affordable volunteer-driven transport

Last updated: 15/03/2024

Carebus has been serving disabled, isolated and vulnerable people in the Eastern part of West Berkshire for four decades.

Minibuses with lift and volunteer driver can be hired for social groups to keep them viable, and for family outings where one or more passengers need the special facilities offered.

Additionally, the group has two accessible cars and volunteers use these and their own private cars to take individuals to doctor's apppointments, out for shopping or socialising, where other forms of transport are non-existent or unaffordable.

Carebus also run a scheduled personal bus service into Newbury from the Eastern parishes of West Berkshire on Fridays. Wheelchair accessible with lift, and a friendly volunteer driver will help with shopping bags and so on. Departs about 10am, returns at lunchtime. West Berks bus passes welcome or £4.80 on the day.  Must be pre-booked before 6pm the day before travel.

Visit the Carebus website for details the West Berkshire parishes covered by this useful service, or to enquire about a trip.
