Young people Not in Education, Employment or Training

Last updated: 17/07/2023

From Summer 2015 young people aged 16-18 have a statutory duty to participate in learning or training. The options available include full time education at school or college, an Apprenticeship, Traineeships, Supported Internships or other full time work including volunteering alongside part-time education or training, and re-engagement provision for those previously out of learning.

West Berkshire Council has a team available to support you make sense of these pathways and options - providing impartial information, advice and guidance and enabling you to make informed career choices about your future.

Young people aged 16-18 will have access to a wide range of services including: advice on the academic and vocational opportunities available; training sessions from local partners and employers; access to digital technology within the hub; resources to help with career planning; training on CV building, interview preparation and communication skills. We can also signpost to the Department of Work and Pensions, colleagues in health and mental health fields and support young people with additional needs.
