Brookfields Youth Club is a Youth Club for the students who attend Brookfields School.

The club is staffed by experienced support staff from the school.  We provide a safe place for young people to meet and socialise with their friends. A range of exciting on-site and off site activities are offered, with the young people giving their ideas for the programme.

Is your service accessible? (consider in general terms how you make your service accessible, in addition to any specific premises issues)

The Youth Club is held in the 6th Form at Brookfields School. The 6th Form is accessible for young people who are wheelchair users or who have mobility difficulties. The buildings have accessible shower/changing/toilet facilities. For young people with a hearing impairment, rooms are acoustically treated. The buildings and grounds are also accessible to young people with a visual impairment. Throughout the 6th Form there is manual handling equipment and staff working at the club have been trained in Manual Handling.

What are the eligibility criteria for your service? (please include any age restrictions, types of need catered for etc)

Applications are welcome from parents of young people aged 14 to 19 who attend the school. The Extended Services Manager and Youth Club Manger work together to examine if we can meet the needs of your son/daughter taking further advice from teachers, Behaviour Support Staff, Sensory Resource staff, school nurses etc. We are currently unable to cater for young people with complex medical needs that require specialised staff or members needing 1:1 supervision.

How are referrals/applications made to your service? (include details of who can refer/apply and referral and application process)

Parents may contact the Extended Services Manager at any time to find out more details about the clubs at any time. Due to the popularity of the club we do hold a waiting list.

What is your service standard for responding to referrals/accessing services? (include timescales for responding to referrals and accessing services)

The Extended Services Manager will confirm the expression of interest made by the parents and once a place becomes available the Extended Services Manager will contact parents with further details.

Feedback and complaints procedure

If parents have a complaint about the Youth Club, Brookfields School’s Complaint procedure are followed If parents have any concerns about the Youth Club, they are encouraged to speak with the Extended Service Manager as soon as possible. Parents will be sent an evaluation sheet where they will be invited to give feedback on the service provided.

How will I know my child will be safe using this service?

All Youth Club staff are recruited using the Schools Safer Recruitment Policy and procedures. All staff have been trained in Safeguarding and Child Protection. Youth club staff are experienced staff members of Brookfields School who have been trained in the support and guidance of young people with learning difficulties and additional needs.. The club reports directly to the School Governors
