My name is Eleanor. I live with my husband and 3 children. I have worked in nurseries for over 10 years before becoming an Ofsted Registered Childminder. I offer full time and part time child care. I live very close to Francis Baily School so I will offer school drop offs and pick ups from the school and also Pied Piper Pre school. I offer flexible and reliable childcare in a warm and caring family environment. In my setting, I have a dedicated playroom as well as a large, secure garden.
I am open 7:30am-6:00pm. I am flexible and will change my opening and closing times to suit individual needs and requirements.

Early Years Private, Voluntary & Independent Settings
When children begin in my setting, I liaise with the parents and observe the child to assess their starting points. This enables me to plan for their progress with the Early Years Foundation Stage. I make observations of the children at different stages of the day, and I carry out a development check between the ages of 2 to 2.5 and share this with parents. I share progress summaries with parents regularly and hold informal chats at the start and end of each session. I welcome any information that the parents may like to share with me, from other childcare professionals, ie health visitors, speech therapists, pre-school settings so that I can help to meet the children's needs.
Discussions are held regularly between the parents. Parents are always asked to be involved in the child’s learning and I ask the parents to fill in their child's achievements if they want to on the online system.
Through initial assessments when a child comes to me, I am able to determine the child’s capabilities. I ask the parents for information on the child’s needs during the registration and induction process. We would put enough support in place for the individual child and would seek further advice from other professionals as and when needed.
I may need specialist equipment and we would speak with outside agencies if necessary. I would seek advice from other professionals where necessary. I would always allow access from other professionals into the setting.
I would always encourage other professionals and organisations to come and spend time with us. Individual children may have varying needs and therefore we welcome support and advice from everyone. I would use the local children's centre for advice or other agencies. Parents are always involved in decisions about their child’s needs through regular meetings.
The children's progress and development is logged on an online system which parents have access to and are able to read and add comments.
All the children all treated the same and are included in all activities. All children will be included in outings and trips as long as all risks assessments have been carried out.
The building is accessible and can easily have a ramp installed if needed. I have a downstairs wash and toilet facilities and the garden can be accessed through the conservatory again with a ramp and the garden is all flat with patio paths.
For new starters to my setting, I offer and encourage short settling in sessions. Initially the child will attend with their parent/carer, and then together we would encourage the child to be left alone with me for a while to get used to me and the other children. Pre-schools, nurseries and schools generally offer the same service so that the transition is supported as smoothly as possible. I would be happy to share your child's learning and development journey with the next step professionals, with your permission.
In addition to the children's records,I share my policies and procedures with parents. I also evaluate my practice and give out an annual parent questionnaire. I will, if possible, make changes as suggested by parents If parents are available at the right time, leave them alone with the inspector for a chat. I also regularly update my Self Evaluation form and will include compliments and complaints, if there had been a complaint I would say how I had dealt with it and the conclusion.
