Early Years Private, Voluntary & Independent Settings

1: How does the setting identify children with additional needs or SEND?

I follow the early years foundation stages to monitor the children combined with my experience I observe note and monitor any concerns, discussing any concerns with the parents

2: How will I be informed / consulted about the ways in which my child is being supported?

All children in the setting have a written learning journey in which any concerns and monioring will be included within it, this is regularly shared and commented on by parents. As i like to verbally communicate with parents concerns will also be discussed on hand over or in a meetng in order that we can work together to support your child

3: How will the setting adapt the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum for my child's needs?

All my planned activities are designed for all the children to access eithher by simplifying or extending the activity to meet all the childrens needs

4: What teaching strategies does the setting use for children with additional needs or learning difficulties?

I have resources that should be suitable to meet your childs needs and your child will also be in a 1adult to 3 early years age chidren thus meaning i am able to support your child  I also have 2 assistants that may be present if additional support is required

5: What additional support does the setting provide for children with additional needs or SEND?

As i work in a home setting i aim to ensure your child feels safe and secure for example your child may like time away from others enjoying a book or making mud pies in the garden, also adjusting physical contact to meet your childs comfort

6: How will the setting monitor my child's progress and how will I be involved in this?

I fully involve parents in childrens progress however small, and I also chat on handover about the day. Younger children also have a daily diary to keep track of what they are doing. I update learning journeys monthly, keeping notes to transfer information as well as photographs  that I share privatly with parents

7: How do you ensure children with additional needs or SEND can be included in the same activities as other children, including trips?

I operate an open policy and any trips that we take are planned and Risk Assessed before hand. This provides me with an oppertunity to make extra arrangements for children with Special Needs or SEND so they can join in and enjoy

8: How accessible is the building for children with mobility difficulties / wheelchair users?

Altough there is a step into the house and garden, both of these pose no accsess impeadments to those in wheelchairs. There are no steps inside the property and there is a Downstairs W/C.

If accsessabilty becomes an issue then the fitment of ramps would not be an issue.

9: How will you support my child's transition to a new setting or school?

I understand that moving settings can be a difficult time for many children and do my upmost to ensure that this move is positive; this is achived  by ensuring that any changes that need to be made to my schedule happen without a problem; including visiting the new school with the child, personal skills and talking about the change

The new setting will recive a transition report that will also help them in supporting the move for this child.

10: How does the setting assess the overall effectiveness of its SEN provision and how can parents / carers take part in this evaluation?

I ask my parents for honest feedback and reflect on any contsructive critisism that I recive to ensure that my setting meets all of my parents expectation.

There is a page in the Learning Jorney that assists parents for this.  also i send out surveys  to the parents

11: Who should I contact if I am considering registering for a place at the setting?

Please feel free to contact me for an informal chat so that we can best evaluate your childs needs; this can be done via phone or email

12: What arrangements does the setting have for feedback from parents / carers, including compliments and complaints?

I ask my parents for honest feedback and reflect on and contsructive critisism that I recive to ensure that my setting meets all of my parents expectation.

There is a page in the Learning Jorney that assists parents for this. There is also anuall surveys sent to the parents

I also follow a strict complaints policy to ensure that all complaints are taken seriously to make sure parents feel that thier children are in the best possible setting
