Hi, I'm Sarah, I've been a Childminder since 2006.

I have a spacious home and large garden all set up to provide stimulating opportunities for the children to learn as they play and explore.

I work with an assistant and my childminding setting caters for children age 9 months upwards.

1: How does the setting identify children with additional needs or SEND?

By observing, tracking and reporting against the Early Years Foundation Stage Development Guidelines. Also by listening to and addressing parents worries and concerns.

2: How will I be informed / consulted about the ways in which my child is being supported?

Younger children will have daily diaries, termly progress reports. You would be able to make an appointment to discuss with me or ask for updates via email.

3: How will the setting adapt the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum for my child's needs?

On an individual basis after consulting with parents and other professionals and undertaking new training if need be.

4: What teaching strategies does the setting use for children with additional needs or learning difficulties?

This will be accessed depending on the individual needs of the child and new training undertaken if needed.

6: How will the setting monitor my child's progress and how will I be involved in this?

Through a cycle of planning, observations and assessments as part of The Early Years Foundation Stage. I would welcome any observations from home to include with mine and to aid my assessments. Assessments would be shared with you on a termly basis or sooner if I have any concerns or suggestions for you.

7: How do you ensure children with additional needs or SEND can be included in the same activities as other children, including trips?

I include everyone and will provide extra equipment to aid this if necessary.

8: How accessible is the building for children with mobility difficulties / wheelchair users?

The house and part of the garden are wheelchair accessible. The indoors of the setting is all on one level.

9: How will you support my child's transition to a new setting or school?

By talking about new setting and moving up as part of growing up. Uses stories for support. Supporting you with visiting the new setting if I can. Discussing any concerns you or your child may have. Helping your child build the skills they will need for activities they will need at the new setting e.g. fine motor skills.

10: How does the setting assess the overall effectiveness of its SEN provision and how can parents / carers take part in this evaluation?

By the child's progress and parent questionnaires.

11: Who should I contact if I am considering registering for a place at the setting?
