It’s My Life Self-Advocacy group (IML) for people with learning disabilities

The It’s My Life Self-Advocacy group also known simply as IML, is a group for adults with learning disabilities in West Berkshire.  There are approximately 45 members with a small Core group who meet weekly to discuss issues that affect them; changes in government; get involved in local and national campaigns; speak with commissioners regarding local health services; report on issues for their wider community; act as a focus group for other parties; hear presentations from other organisations and providers; speak up for their community ensuring that everyone gets their voice heard.

The group also enjoy fun activities including bingo, being creative as well as keeping each other up to date on their own news.  There is a weekly Computer Club that takes place prior to every IML meeting.

The IML also run social groups each month namely Lunch Club and Book Club as well as ad hoc social events such as summer events to coincide with Learning Disability week.
