It’s My Life Self-Advocacy group (IML) for people with learning disabilities
The It’s My Life Self-Advocacy group also known simply as IML, is a group for adults with learning disabilities in West Berkshire. There are approximately 45 members with a small Core group who meet weekly to discuss issues that affect them; changes in government; get involved in local and national campaigns; speak with commissioners regarding local health services; report on issues for their wider community; act as a focus group for other parties; hear presentations from other organisations and providers; speak up for their community ensuring that everyone gets their voice heard. The IML also run social groups each month namely Lunch Club, Book Club and Pub Club as well as ad hoc social events such as summer picnics to coincide with learning disability week, Christmas events, annual barge trip and bowling.
