Early Years Private, Voluntary & Independent Settings

1: How does the setting identify children with additional needs or SEND?

When each child begins in my setting I conduct regular observations using EYFS Development Matters to make my assessments, I also undertake 2 year old development check so I can pick up any problems early on, I will discuss with each parent if I have any concerns and listen if they have some too. If a child has SEND I would work together with the child’s parents and offer support where I can.

2: How will I be informed / consulted about the ways in which my child is being supported?

Daily discussions are held with parents, reviews are carried out every 3 month.

Each child will be supported and encouraged to achieve their goals at their own pace.

Parents are given a detailed diary of what their child has done during their time/day in my setting including feeding, sleeping and toileting, also daily text messages if parents would like.

3: How will the setting adapt the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum for my child's needs?

I use the EYFS framework as a guide, I take into account the child’s age and plan accordingly and encourage all children to take part and get involve, I use observations and assessments to make plans for next steps.

4: What teaching strategies does the setting use for children with additional needs or learning difficulties?

Activities are based around a child’s individual needs and interests, I work closely with parents to support a child’s needs and development.

5: What additional support does the setting provide for children with additional needs or SEND?

I look at every child as an individual and provide extra support where needed also seeking advice or extra training.

6: How will the setting monitor my child's progress and how will I be involved in this?

Observations are made on each child in my setting using Development Mattees and EYFS Framework.

Information is kept in a learning journal and shared with parents if needed.

7: How do you ensure children with additional needs or SEND can be included in the same activities as other children, including trips?

When planning activities outdoors I will welcome parents feedback, risk assessments will be carried out before outings to ensure each child's requirements are met.

8: How accessible is the building for children with mobility difficulties / wheelchair users?

No accessible access for wheelchair users

9: How will you support my child's transition to a new setting or school?

Children that are new starters will be gradually introduced into my setting with or without a parent for a few hours before starting part/ full time in my care.

10: How does the setting assess the overall effectiveness of its SEN provision and how can parents / carers take part in this evaluation?

I work with parents sharing information and follow professional advice, parents and children are encouraged to give feedback and comment through the use of their daily diaries, development records, emails, whatsapp message or text, and questionnaires relating to the quality of provision.

11: Who should I contact if I am considering registering for a place at the setting?

Should you wish to discuss your childcare needs please contact me on 07983021347 to arrange a visit.

12: What arrangements does the setting have for feedback from parents / carers, including compliments and complaints?

You can use the box provided in your child's daily diary alternatively you can speak with me send emails or text messages
