Description

The Family centre provides services, activities, support and information for families who have children 0-19.

Provide experiences which take account of, and  respond to, the child’s developmental needs and which allow each child to make progress related to his/her own abilities.
The Family centre is committed to the inclusion of all children and has regard for the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (DDA). 

Provision for children with special educational needs is a matter for everyone in the setting.  The staff will work in order to enable each child to meet their full potential and endeavour to give each family the support they need.

General Provider

The centre is accessible to wheelchair users and to those who have mobility issues, and our outreach services are similarly accessible (please contact us about outreach). Please feel free to contact us in advance to discuss your / your child’s specific needs and we will do our best to work with you to resolve any access issues.

The centre’s services are open to all.

How are referrals/applications made to your service? (include details of who can refer/apply and referral and application process)

Many sessions are drop-ins and don’t need booking onto; parents, carers and other professionals may refer through Health Visitors and other professionals

What is your service standard for responding to referrals/accessing services? (include timescales for responding to referrals and accessing services)

Some special services including support from the centre’s family support workers are accessed by referrals from health professionals.

Many groups are free and any other charges are minimal – e.g. £1 for Stay, Play & Learn sessions.

The family centre is registered and inspected by Ofsted.

Feedback and complaints procedure

The centre will provide the best possible service for the children in their care and for parents/carers. We therefore will provide parents/carers with a means of making a complaint. Our complaints procedures will follow the West Berkshire Council protocol. Please contact the Centre on 01488682628

How will I know my child will be safe using this service?

The centre recognises it has a duty to ensure arrangements are in place for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children . The centre ensures we practice safe recruitment in checking suitability of staff and volunteers to work with children including full DBS checks on all staff and volunteers. Health and Safety is a major priority and both buildings and equipment are regularly cleaned and maintained.
