Early Years Private, Voluntary & Independent Settings

1: How does the setting identify children with additional needs or SEND?

Through building up trusting relationships with parents and tracking childrens progress through observations, this helps identify any concerns.

2: How will I be informed / consulted about the ways in which my child is being supported?

We always make time to talk to parents about their children during drop-off and pick-up times, we are approachable and discreet.

We will happily arrange a more private meeting if appropriate.

3: How will the setting adapt the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum for my child's needs?

All the childrens work is linked to the Early Years Foundation Stage. We plan our activities based on the childrens ages and stage of development and with observations link to the EYFS.

4: What teaching strategies does the setting use for children with additional needs or learning difficulties?

We have some children who are bilingual and just learning to talk and so that we can identify if a child is actually saying a word and not just babbling we have a list of words from their home language that parents bring in and we gradually add to as the child progresses.

5: What additional support does the setting provide for children with additional needs or SEND?

We treat every child as an individual and unique in their own way.

6: How will the setting monitor my child's progress and how will I be involved in this?

We monitor the childrens progress by observing them in their play and during activities. We use a variety of different observations e.g. wow moments, extended observations, tick lists etc....

With parents consent we take photographs which go into a Progress Book along with the observations and parents are able to view at any time. Parents take home the books every couple of months to view and provide any feed back.

7: How do you ensure children with additional needs or SEND can be included in the same activities as other children, including trips?

We ensure that all our children are involved and take part in activities and outings.

8: How accessible is the building for children with mobility difficulties / wheelchair users?

We are in the process of widening the entrance gate.

9: How will you support my child's transition to a new setting or school?

We would do our best to make the transition as smooth and happy as possible for the child and their parents. With parents consent providing any helpful information to the new setting or school and reassuring the child by talking about the transition in a positive way and reading happy stories about school.

10: How does the setting assess the overall effectiveness of its SEN provision and how can parents / carers take part in this evaluation?

We work alongside parents for their children to reach the best of their potential.

11: Who should I contact if I am considering registering for a place at the setting?

Contact Sharon Young for information on registering for a place.

12: What arrangements does the setting have for feedback from parents / carers, including compliments and complaints?

Young Bubbles has a Facebook page which allows parents and their families see photographs of the children doing crafts, activities, trips and in play (parents give consent beforehand). We have reviews on this page.

The phone number for Ofsted is displayed clearly at all times.
