Newbury Cancer Care

Supporting local people and their families dealing with cancer and other life limiting illnesses.   

Volunteer drivers will take you to any hospital for your treatment or Consultants appointment. A family member or friend can also accompany you to your appointment. Newbury Cancer care do not make a specific charge for the service, but ask for a donation if you are in a position to do so. Please ring the Transport Coordinator on 07717 783811 to book your transport.

Financial Grants

Newbury Cancer Care appreciate that at times of illness there are usually extra costs and financial burdens placed upon patients and their families. Newbury Cancer Care may be able to assist you with a small financial grant to help you in times of hardship. Please speak to your Community Nurse, Clinical Nurse Specialist or ring the office on 01635 31542 for more information.

Education

Educational seminars are held to provide information for professionals. Newbury Cancer Care can also provide bursaries for medical and healthcare workers. Please contact the office on 01635 31542 for further information.

The Trust funds the following services:

  • Aromatherapy & Reflexology*
  • Physiotherapy & Hydrotherapy*
  • Lymphoedema Clinic*
  • Diversional Therapy at the Charles Clore Unit*
  • Family & Bereavement Support*
  • Psychology*
  • Time To Talk West Berkshire - Youth Bereavement Counselling Service*
  • Overnight Nursing Care**

(*Newbury Cancer Care pay the Specialist Palliative Service, currently managed by the Sue Ryder Charity and over, £40,000 per year to run these services on their behalf.)

(**Newbury Cancer Care pay the Berkshire Healthcare Foundation Trust £5,000 per year to provide Out of Hours nursing care when Community Nursing Staff or Marie Curie Nurses are unavailable.)

 

Financial grants - The Trust may be able to help with one-off small grants to help ease your financial burden.  If you would like more information speak to your Clinical Nurse Specialist, your GP or ring the office on the number listed below.
