I run my childminding business from my home which is situated near Springfield Primary School and Little Heath School.

I’ve been childminding for since Feb 2005 and have 2 adult sons and a grandson along with 2 guinea pigs. I have a designated area for the children to play in the garden, this was astroturfed in the summer of 2018. There are plenty of toys both inside and outside ranging from trundle trucks, slide, tuff tray to dolls, cars, and a playhouse. We spend each morning at a group of some sort ie toddlers/music and also get together with other local childminders for play dates. Children are able to have free play in the afternoons meaning that younger children can have a nap.

Early Years Private, Voluntary & Independent Settings

1: How does the setting identify children with additional needs or SEND?

Observations are made on children to identify whether there are any concerns. These would then be discussed with parents in order to work together and support the child with any extra help they may need. Parents are encouraged to seek professional help should it be necessary.

2: How will I be informed / consulted about the ways in which my child is being supported?

I have daily conversations with parents at drop off and/or pick up. I use a private Facebook Page to post photos to show what we have done during the day. Photos are posted with parents permission or can be sent via WhatsApp. Parents are encouraged to contact me at any time of day to discuss any problems/concerns they may have.

3: How will the setting adapt the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum for my child's needs?

The EYFS is implanted through everyday activities, some of which are adult and some of which are child led. The topic may be extended if children have shown a real interest in it and is adapted for each age group.

4: What teaching strategies does the setting use for children with additional needs or learning difficulties?

I base activities on a child's individual needs, ability and interests. I work closely with parents in order to support the child's needs development.

5: What additional support does the setting provide for children with additional needs or SEND?

Every child is an individual. I will provide extra support where needed and seek professional advice or extra training where necessary.

6: How will the setting monitor my child's progress and how will I be involved in this?

Observations are made on each child in the setting using Development Matters and the EYFS Framework and activities planned to meet their next steps.

7: How do you ensure children with additional needs or SEND can be included in the same activities as other children, including trips?

Activities can be modified to meet all children's needs and outdoor activities are risk assessed to ensure everyone can be included.

8: How accessible is the building for children with mobility difficulties / wheelchair users?

I have no access for wheelchair users.

9: How will you support my child's transition to a new setting or school?

When children are moving on to a new setting I work with parents and the new setting to ensure a smooth as possible transition.

10: How does the setting assess the overall effectiveness of its SEN provision and how can parents / carers take part in this evaluation?

As I work independently it is only possible for me to assess each child's needs as the become apparent. Parents are free to give me feedback at any time.

11: Who should I contact if I am considering registering for a place at the setting?

Caroline Rosier - 07834 782070

12: What arrangements does the setting have for feedback from parents / carers, including compliments and complaints?

Parents are free to leave feedback via email, text message, WhatsApp, my private Facebook page or good old fashioned letter.
