Kennet Valley Caterpillars
Last updated: 13/12/2021
Kennet Valley Caterpillars is a community inspired preschool in the heart of Fords Farm. Our spacious hall inside the community centre and private, designated garden area welcomes children from the local and wider area. We offer care for children from 2-5 years old and accept the 15 government funded (free) hours across our sessions as well as the extended hours covered by the 30 hours eligibility code, 2 year old funding, Childcare vouchers and Tax Free Childcare. Full day, half day and lunch club sessions allow us to be flexible to each families needs.

Our trained SENCo works in room each day. Staff monitor children's progress and discuss concerns with the SENCo.
This will vary based on the individual needs and preferences of each family. However we aim to provide termly updates via our Parents Afternoons, weekly updates via Famly and are always available at drop off, pick up or at a prearranged meeting to discuss face to face.
Again, this will vary depending on the needs of the child.
Depending on the needs or difficulties the child has we would adapt our strategies accordingly.
Where a child has additional needs we aim to provide the highest support possible. This will vary depending on the needs of each child and their family.
We aim to provide termly updates via our Parents Afternoons, weekly updates via Famly and are always available at drop off, pick up or at a prearranged meeting to discuss face to face. Each child has a designated keyworked with whom the family can talk to as often as they'd like.
All our activities, and trips, are adaptable to ensure every child is included.
Very accessible - there is a ramp at the entrance, the corridor is wide and our walkways around the hall can be modified easily if needed.
We work closely with Kennet Valley Primary School's foundation teacher. If your child was changing setting we'd invite their new keyworker to join us for a session and offer their Caterpillar keyworker to go with them for a settling in session at their new setting. We share information across settings, when appropriate and with the consent of the carer.
Regular training, updates and assessments are carried out with the staff, parents and relevant local authorities.

Our complaints procedure is available to all parents via our policies and procedures folder in reception. We aim to carry out termly surveys for parents to give anonymous feedback and most of all, we talk to our parents/families regularly.
