Early Years Private, Voluntary & Independent Settings

1: How does the setting identify children with additional needs or SEND?

All children are identified as individuals regardless of disability. Every child has their own personal needs that are to be met. Care plans and risk assessments are put into place and followed to protect and care for all children to the best of my abilities.

2: How will I be informed / consulted about the ways in which my child is being supported?

Communication with parents/carers is vital. Daily journals are completed and handed over to parents daily.

3: How will the setting adapt the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum for my child's needs?

I would work the parents and any other professional as required

4: What teaching strategies does the setting use for children with additional needs or learning difficulties?

I would work with the parents, pre school, nursery, school and professionals and ask for advice ideas to help the child .if parents agree visit family home for ideas and feedback on things to support the child .use pictures, photos, posters, signs, visual timetable to help them communicate and understand what we do / routine.

5: What additional support does the setting provide for children with additional needs or SEND?

I would take into account the child's age, routine, likes, dislikes, any additional needs then work out a plan to support each child

6: How will the setting monitor my child's progress and how will I be involved in this?

In confidence talk to others, look at what courses /support there is that may help me. Each child has a learning journal which can be seen at anytime. I am happy to talk to parents anytime if they have concerns.

7: How do you ensure children with additional needs or SEND can be included in the same activities as other children, including trips?

All children are treated the same, they are all encouraged to join in and take part. If needed I will adapt activities to support their needs. I will get advice from parents when planning a day trip to keep their child safe, secure and happy.

8: How accessible is the building for children with mobility difficulties / wheelchair users?

My house is accessible

9: How will you support my child's transition to a new setting or school?

Transition to another setting can be worrying and upsetting for a child. I will work with the parents / new setting and talk to the child about what's going to happen. I am happy to go with the child to visit the new setting and show them the learning journal.

10: How does the setting assess the overall effectiveness of its SEN provision and how can parents / carers take part in this evaluation?

I carry out observations, daily talks with parents, learning journals are sent home often for parents to look through and discuss any concerns with me.

11: Who should I contact if I am considering registering for a place at the setting?

Donna Parkin 07881958646

12: What arrangements does the setting have for feedback from parents / carers, including compliments and complaints?

I am available anytime if parents need to discuss anything. We have a chat when dropping off /collecting their child. Parents are aware of my complaints procedure and I would hope that they talk to me first so we can resolve things
