Teddy Bears is a small and friendly Pre-School near Newbury in the West Berkshire village of Boxford . We offer quality childcare for children aged between 2 and 5.

 We are open  term time only  Monday 9.00am-12.30pm  Tuesdays,Wednesday and Thursdays 9-3pm.

Friday mornings are for our 3+ Children where we play games whilst learning phonic sounds.

These sessions are preparing  for your child for school where games and development of  the phonic sound are played. 9am-1130pm Lunch till 12.30pm

We aim to promote learning through play in a safe and nurturing environment. Children that come to Teddy Bears develop socially, emotionally, physically and intellectually and are well prepared for compulsory education. We pride ourselves on developing each child’s confidence and self-esteem as well as understanding each child as an individual.

Children can enjoy our morning sessions in which they can take part in practical activities, songs/musical instruments, dance, nursery rhymes, circle time, adult lead table activities, self selection activities, free flow indoor/outdoor play and story time. We are very fortunate that links with the community mean that we are able to offer additional  activities such as mini trail blazers that engage with  children's phyiscal development. Every other wednesday we learn about growing and planting in gardening sessions. Once a term on a thursday afternoon we have drama sessions that encourage the children's imaginations, in addition we have sessions with music with mummy twice a term.  This is open to all children aged between 2 and 5.

1: How does the setting identify children with additional needs or SEND?

By recording and observing the children within our setting or intial conversations with parents before a child attend. When a child needs additional support, we work with other professionals to support the child,parents and families by working with other professionals .

All children are unique and we recongise that all children learning diffently, and the team at Teddy Bears will enable to support everyone in volved in the child's learning and development.


2: How will I be informed / consulted about the ways in which my child is being supported?

By face to face communication, email and through our one line journal system. We believe in having a two way partnership with the parents that enhances the child's development.

3: How will the setting adapt the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum for my child's needs?

Teddy Bears Preschool will use every method availiable to adapt the Early Years Foundation Stage .All children are unique and we recongise that all children learning diffently, and the team at Teddy Bears will enable to support everyone involved in the child's learning and development.

4: What teaching strategies does the setting use for children with additional needs or learning difficulties?

One-one work. discussion with other professionals. Quiet and sensory areas. If needed SAPP plans will be put in place.

5: What additional support does the setting provide for children with additional needs or SEND?

Teddy Bears work closely with other agencies and professionals to benefit the child's development and to engage with parents understanding.

6: How will the setting monitor my child's progress and how will I be involved in this?

Teddy Bears will commuincate with parents/carers regarding their child's development through face to face communication, meetings and emails,telephone converstions. Reports and notes will be kept. This is very much a two way partnership and we welcome feedback and how we can engage with parents and the child.

7: How do you ensure children with additional needs or SEND can be included in the same activities as other children, including trips?

Teddy Bears will risk assess all activities and cotinue to be inclusive for all.We believe that all children should have the opportuinities to learn, engage and grow for their own personal development.

8: How accessible is the building for children with mobility difficulties / wheelchair users?

We will work with parents,carers and the child to equip that we have the resources if possible for the child's individual needs.

9: How will you support my child's transition to a new setting or school?

Teddybears work closely with the local schools in the area and support the child, parent and school with this transition.We also have links with the local Family and wellbeing hubs who we liasie and suggest programmes that may enhance the child's understanding in prepartation for starting primary school. If a child needs additional transition days, then we will enable this to happen with the local schools.

10: How does the setting assess the overall effectiveness of its SEN provision and how can parents / carers take part in this evaluation?

Teddy Bears is vigalant in reviewing it's processes and sending out questionnaires to parents for there comments.
