Tea in the afternoon, friendship group for 75yrs+ at weekends - Re-engage (previously known as Contact the Elderly)
A charity dedicated to tackling loneliness and social isolation among older people. A monthly Sunday afternoon tea party for small groups of older people (aged 75+) who live alone is an opportunity to make new friends.
Groups meet at weekends, when most community services for older people are not available. Groups are kept purposely small, and they meet in the welcoming environment of someone’s home.
Your regular volunteer driver will come to your door, walk with you to their car and drive you to the place where you all spend the afternoon together. The get-togethers usually start at 3.00 pm and ends at 5.30 pm. You will be collected in time to have a pleasurable drive to the host’s home and at the end of the afternoon the driver will take you home safely.
Unfortunately the groups are currently unable to cater for wheelchair users.
