Early Years Private, Voluntary & Independent Settings

1: How does the setting identify children with additional needs or SEND?

speaking to parents about their child I have experience with observing children

2: How will I be informed / consulted about the ways in which my child is being supported?

I can offer face to face meetings to discuss your child and how we can help them develop together

3: How will the setting adapt the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum for my child's needs?

Activities will be adapted to your childs needs so that they can join with all the children

4: What teaching strategies does the setting use for children with additional needs or learning difficulties?

I treat all children as an individual so their needs are assessed and teaching strategies adapted.

5: What additional support does the setting provide for children with additional needs or SEND?

contact with West Berkshire Council and the childrens hub in Thatcham

6: How will the setting monitor my child's progress and how will I be involved in this?

for children under 5 they each have a learning journey, where photos of our activies are placed, they are sent home monthly. i also use trackers that monitor development and i discuss next steps with parents. all children are unique so these are based around what your child can already do and what they need to do next

7: How do you ensure children with additional needs or SEND can be included in the same activities as other children, including trips?

I risk assess trips and activities so all children can be safe in my care.

8: How accessible is the building for children with mobility difficulties / wheelchair users?

Not very accessible as I have a step up and in to my house and no downstairs toilet.

9: How will you support my child's transition to a new setting or school?

My full support will be offered to both child and carer whilst the child transitions to a new setting or school
