Donnaveen Folland

Coronavirus status: OPEN

I am an experienced, qualified, childcare professional with an Ofsted Outstanding grade.  I offer a flexible, high quality childminding service based in Great Shefford.  I am open Mondays 8am - 4.30pm,Tuesday to Thursday from 8am to 6pm.  I offer  full or part time day care and  a “before and after” school service that includes school/pre-school drop off/pick up, a snack, home cooked meal, fun and stimulating activities and outings.

I plan a variety of exciting activities around the children’s interests to support and challenge the individual child, taking into account their differing needs and routines.  This enables them to progress in their unique development at their own pace.  The children are taken on outings to local groups, parks, woods, cafes and exploring the local environment as well pickups from local preschools and schools.  Children feel secure within the family group benefiting from learning together with both older children and adult support.  Transitions to preschool and school are supported with school collections, enabling the children to become familiar with staff and environments.

Early Years Private, Voluntary & Independent Settings

1: How does the setting identify children with additional needs or SEND?

All children are supported to reach their individual potential. When children start with me parents give details of there childs development to date and starting points are recorded. Observations and assessments are carried out to identify individual next steps. These are shared and agreed with parents together to support the children. Carefully planned play activities, outings and experiences support the childrens learning.

2: How will I be informed / consulted about the ways in which my child is being supported?

Communication is tailored to each individual families needs. This can be be verbally, email, text messages, daily diaries and learning journeys. Working closely with parents ensures the best outcomes for the individual children.

3: How will the setting adapt the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum for my child's needs?

All play activities and outings are identified through the observation, assessment and planning cycle. Activities are adapted to ensure all children can participate at their stage of development. Working closely with parents children are supported to reach their full potential.

4: What teaching strategies does the setting use for children with additional needs or learning difficulties?

All children are supported to participate in carefully planned activities at their individual developmental stage. I work closely with relevant professionals and parents to ensure children's needs are supported.

5: What additional support does the setting provide for children with additional needs or SEND?

All children are supported to participate in carefully planned activities at their individual developmental stage. I work closely with relevant professionals and parents to ensure children's needs are supported appropriately.

6: How will the setting monitor my child's progress and how will I be involved in this?

Daily Dairies and learning journeys record children's development and participation in activities. Observations and assessments are carried out to identify individual next steps. These are shared and agreed with parents and together carefully planned play activities are agreed.

7: How do you ensure children with additional needs or SEND can be included in the same activities as other children, including trips?

All children are supported to participate in carefully planned activities at their individual developmental stage. I work closely with relevant professionals and parents to ensure children's needs are supported. Risk assessments are completed and outings planned that all children can participate in.

8: How accessible is the building for children with mobility difficulties / wheelchair users?

The downstairs of the house is used for the childminding business, making it accessible to most users. There is a step into the front of the house and steps to the garden which would make access for wheel chair users more difficult. Please contact me to discuss access requirements.

9: How will you support my child's transition to a new setting or school?

I work closely with parents and will work closely with any new settings the children attend. I welcome visitors to my setting and will happily visit new settings, to support children's transitions. A transition report summarising the child's development will be produced and transition stories shared to support each individual child.

10: How does the setting assess the overall effectiveness of its SEN provision and how can parents / carers take part in this evaluation?

Regular self evaluation of the provision and activities and outings are carried out. Feedback from parents/carers is used to inform the self evaluation process through daily diaries, learning journeys, summaries of development, emails, face to face discussions and a questionnaire about the provision.

11: Who should I contact if I am considering registering for a place at the setting?

12: What arrangements does the setting have for feedback from parents / carers, including compliments and complaints?

Working in partnership with parents is key to my business practice. ;Parents are encouraged to provide feedback, verbally, by email, or text message if they prefer. Please see my complaints policy for further details.
