Mental Health - Eight Bells for Mental Health Newbury

Last updated: 02/02/2023
Eight Bells is a friendly, member-led, voluntary group, that provides friendship, support and a listening ear to people experiencing mental health issues in Newbury, Thatcham and surrounding areas. We support and empower members to lead independent and fulfilling lives. Our members are at the heart of what we do.
Eight Bells provides support for up to 100 people living across West Berkshire whose lives are affected by mental health issues. We offer a safe, supportive and welcoming environment at our Drop-In Centre which is based close to Newbury Town Centre. Our friendly social sessions are open every Monday, Thursday, and Friday to help people with their mental well-being and overcome isolation and loneliness by meeting and connecting with others. Our sessions include activities such as Arts & Crafts, Movement Classes, Prize Bingo, Gardening and Nature. We also have the support of two counsellors whom members can arrange 1:1 sessions with if needed.
Our members work together to organise days out and fundraising events.
Our Drop-In sessions are:
Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays 9 am to 4 pm.
Lunches are available every Monday and Thursday for a £1 contribution.
We provide unlimited hot and cold drinks at each session.
High-speed broadband and laptops are available for members to use.
Our Coordinators offer 1-1 appointments for specific advocacy and support at The Meeting House, 1, Highfield Avenue, Newbury. These must be booked in advance.
We also work alongside several other local charities and community groups, including Recovery in Mind, Loose Ends, West Berkshire Homeless, and Newbury Soup Kitchen
