Early Years Private, Voluntary & Independent Settings

1: How does the setting identify children with additional needs or SEND?

Through continued observations throughout the child's time at Springburn. Additional help accessed as required from outside agencies.

2: How will I be informed / consulted about the ways in which my child is being supported?

Through daily contact with members of the team within your child's room.

3: How will the setting adapt the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum for my child's needs?

Springburn believes that all children should be able to access all areas of learning and will adapt and modify any aspect as required.

4: What teaching strategies does the setting use for children with additional needs or learning difficulties?

At Springburn we believe all children are individual and therefore will all learn in slightly different ways, we strive to adapt any aspect as required for the children's needs.

5: What additional support does the setting provide for children with additional needs or SEND?

We are able to access support from a variety of external agencies should we require to, we also believe in a close working partnership with parents and carers to ensure we meet all of the children's needs.

6: How will the setting monitor my child's progress and how will I be involved in this?

Each child at Springburn has their own learning journal which we ask you as parents and carers to contribute to on a regular basis. We also carry out daily observations, we provide you with two tracking reports and one full report per academic year.

7: How do you ensure children with additional needs or SEND can be included in the same activities as other children, including trips?

We ensure we act on advice from parents and carers and from external professionals to ensure children can gain the most from their time at Springburn. We do not undertake trips away from the nursery, choosing instead to invite various people into the children to allow children to access a variety of new experiences in an environment with which they are familiar.

8: How accessible is the building for children with mobility difficulties / wheelchair users?

The building is accessed via a ramp, we have wide doorways and Springburn is on a single level,

9: How will you support my child's transition to a new setting or school?

Springburn invites new school teachers and practitioners into the setting to meet the children here, when children have been for a visit we encourage them to share their experience with their friends. Leading up to the end of the summer term we chat about the adventures the children might have at their new schools and encourage them to chat about the new adventures they are going to have.

10: How does the setting assess the overall effectiveness of its SEN provision and how can parents / carers take part in this evaluation?

We view our practice as strong in this area. We are willing to engage with and put into practice any recommendations from outside agencies. We speak daily with all of our parents and carers to ensure they are happy we are meeting the needs for their individual children.

11: Who should I contact if I am considering registering for a place at the setting?

You can phone the setting on 01488 649650 or e-mail info@springburnchildcare.co.uk or just pop in if you're passing.

12: What arrangements does the setting have for feedback from parents / carers, including compliments and complaints?

We invite feedback from parents and carers on a regular basis, through speaking to you daily to carrying out questionnaires for gathering more specific information.
