Hello, my name is Leah and I am an Ofsted registered childminder with 4 years experience in childcare.

I live with my 2 daughters, Hollie, Chloe and our small gentle dog Rolo. We live in a 2 bedroom bungalow with a spacious enclosed garden, in Tilehurst close to a park and woodland.

I offer a loving home environment which has a family atmosphere,in  which your child will be able learn and develop comfortably. Each child will receive individual attention and also time to interact with children of various ages. I will take your child to toddler sessions, local parks, soft play centres etc. I will also make educational visits to farms, zoos etc.

I am using an online operating system that conforms to the current EYFS. Parents /carers can access your childs daily diary and learning journeys at any time. This system will also allow parents/carers to communicate and share memories, wow moments, photos and videos.

Early Years Private, Voluntary & Independent Settings

1: How does the setting identify children with additional needs or SEND?

Prior to starting my setting I ask all parents to complete an all about me questionnaire, this gives me a bit more information about the child before they start. I also carry out observations and complete a tracking system I do this from a system called baby’s days that is individual for each child. I also work closely with parents.

2: How will I be informed / consulted about the ways in which my child is being supported?

I will send messages via WhatsApp and baby’s days.i will keep track of your child’s development and should any issues arise you will be contacted informally or formally.

3: How will the setting adapt the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum for my child's needs?

I will adapt by completing individual planning. Using observations to create tailored next steps. Adapt routines and follow the child’s interests, also getting advice from professionals.

4: What teaching strategies does the setting use for children with additional needs or learning difficulties?

I think about the needs of the child, working together with parents and all professionals involved with the child to create an individual educational plan. There will be tailored resources, tools and teaching methods.

5: What additional support does the setting provide for children with additional needs or SEND?

I work alongside other professionals and regularly update training. I can help parents by signposting them to other agencies that can offer support and advice.

6: How will the setting monitor my child's progress and how will I be involved in this?

I run on a system called baby’s days that uses the early years outcomes to track your child’s development. I complete 2 year old checks when the child reaches the age of 2. Regular updates via WhatsApp will be sent to you. I also give ideas for home learning.

7: How do you ensure children with additional needs or SEND can be included in the same activities as other children, including trips?

I have a wide range of toys that vary from all ages. I will adapt resources and activities to include all the children cared for. I risk assess trips and activities to ensure they safe for all children.

8: How accessible is the building for children with mobility difficulties / wheelchair users?

I live in a bungalow, I have a small step to my front door and some low steps into my back garden. All activities and play happens in my living room and dining room, all toys are accessible.

9: How will you support my child's transition to a new setting or school?

I prepare the child for school and additional settings by building good relationships, talking about and using books and pictures. Sharing informations and transition reports.

10: How does the setting assess the overall effectiveness of its SEN provision and how can parents / carers take part in this evaluation?

I regularly get feedback from parents. Put any problems that may arise into an action plan and self-evaluate regularly.

11: Who should I contact if I am considering registering for a place at the setting?

Leah Jay twinkletoes-childcare@hotmail.com

12: What arrangements does the setting have for feedback from parents / carers, including compliments and complaints?

I welcome verbal feedback at all times and regularly ask for written feedback. I also have a complaints book and all policies are accessible to parents.
