Is your service accessible? (consider in general terms how you make your service accessible, in addition to any specific premises issues)

The centre is accessible to wheelchair users and to those who have mobility issues, and our outreach services are similarly accessible (please contact us about outreach). Please feel free to contact us in advance to discuss your / your child’s specific needs and we will do our best to work with you to resolve any access issues.

What are the eligibility criteria for your service? (please include any age restrictions, types of need catered for etc)

The centre’s services are open to all.

How are referrals/applications made to your service? (include details of who can refer/apply and referral and application process)

Many sessions are drop-ins and don’t need booking onto; parents, carers and other professionals may refer through Help for Families. Help for Families performs a triage by sending a referral to the appropriate centre based on need and location.

What is your service standard for responding to referrals/accessing services? (include timescales for responding to referrals and accessing services)

Some special services including support from the centre’s family support workers are accessed by referrals from health professionals via the West Berkshire Council’s Help for Families hub. Help for Families is the Service Standard.

Feedback and complaints procedure

The children’s centre will provide the best possible service for the children in their care and for parents/carers. We therefore will provide parents/carers with a means of making a complaint. Please contact the Speech and Language Therapist on 0300 365 1234 should you wish to make a complaint.

How will I know my child will be safe using this service?

The children's centre recognises it has a duty to ensure arrangements are in place for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children . The centre ensures we practice safe recruitment in checking suitability of staff and volunteers to work with children including full CRB/DBS checks on all staff and volunteers. Health and Safety is a major priority and both buildings and equipment are regularly cleaned and maintained.

West Berkshire Council do not promote or endorse any of the services listed in this Directory. For more information on this please read our disclaimer.
