Early Years Private, Voluntary & Independent Settings

1: How does the setting identify children with additional needs or SEND?

We have SENCO person who is responsible for working and identifying children with addtional needs or SEND. We work very closely with parents and other professionals to assist the child to achieve their best. Observations are taken and parents are invited to dicuss any concerns they have themselves.

2: How will I be informed / consulted about the ways in which my child is being supported?

All parents have a handover when they pick up their child. Parents are actively encouraged to be part of the ethos of the Nursery and Pre school. Parent partnership is very strong and parents will know in which area their child is being supported from their learning journeys and parents evenings, and daily handover's.

3: How will the setting adapt the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum for my child's needs?

Each child will have their needs met through the planning at the Nursery and Pre school as each child has a voice. The qualified staff will see within the planning where a child's learning needs to be nurtured and developed. Through different activities and events the children are kept busy and become school ready by the time they are going to school.

4: What teaching strategies does the setting use for children with additional needs or learning difficulties?

Where children with addtional needs are in the setting the staff will work along side both parents and other professionals and will regard the information on the childs SAPP to achieve the best positive outcome for the child

5: What additional support does the setting provide for children with additional needs or SEND?

Resources Qualified staff who have worked with EHC and SAPP forms The Nursery and Pre school are all on one level, with easy access for wheel chairs and walkers Staff work closely with other professional within SENCO

6: How will the setting monitor my child's progress and how will I be involved in this?

Learning journeys Planning Next steps Parent evenings

7: How do you ensure children with additional needs or SEND can be included in the same activities as other children, including trips?

All children and adults are welcome into our setting regadless of religion, race, means or abilty

Our setting recognises that children have a wide range of needs, which differ from time to time.

We ensure that all children are treated as equals and are encoraged to take part in every aspect of our setting.

When outings are being organised all children will be included

We will promote positve images of those with addtional needs.

8: How accessible is the building for children with mobility difficulties / wheelchair users?

Very accessible

We are all on one level and all children can have access to the garden.

The preschool has large rooms so access is easier for children to move around.

9: How will you support my child's transition to a new setting or school?

We have good relationships with the local schools in the area and have supported teachers coming into the setting to meet the children and see how confident they are and talk about being school ready (something we pride ourselves on)

10: How does the setting assess the overall effectiveness of its SEN provision and how can parents / carers take part in this evaluation?

We work hard in our overall effectiveness and working along side children with additional ;needs.

It is important that parents and carers have a voice with us and can fill in feedback sheets and talk to the staff involved
