Early Years Private, Voluntary & Independent Settings
I use a website called Baby Days to record the child's development and follow the tracker to identify where there are any delayed learning goals. I plan activities to help the child reach their milestones.
I communicate verbally with parents at drop off and collection, also through WhatsApp daily, any concerns can be raised through these channels of communication. Also communication through text, email, Baby Days website.
I always follow the EYFS appropriate to the child's age and ability adapting any activities to suit the child's individual needs.
I would discuss the child's developmental stage at the start of the placement in my setting with ongoing assessments, activities would be adapted to the childs develpomental stage in order for full participation.
I will support the child on their individual needs as required, i would seek training or advice from other agencies such as the Local Authority if any further additional support was required.
Through observations, Baby Days website and good communication with parents and other professionals if required.
Risk assessments are done prior to any trips/outings, I would use any equipment required to ensure that the child is comfortable and re-assured.
There is currently no wheelchair access to my property, however adaptations could be made if required. I have downstairs toilets.
I do settling in sessions with children and would work together with the new setting or school to support the child's transition.
Continuous communication with parents verbally also communicating through Baby Days, WhatsApp, Email or text.
Myself - Alison Chaffin
