Early Years Private, Voluntary & Independent Settings
We have a strong team of highly qualified staff with an experienced SENCO. Each child has a key person who works closely with them and their family, completing up to date records, including regular reports. All staff are encouraged to continuously progress and further their own development and knowledge in relation to SEND and early identification of needs.
We encourage all parents/carers to attend parents evenings and to work in partnership with us in relation to their child's development. When a SAPP form is in place we ensure that everyone is working with the same goals. We have an open door policy, so if there are any worries about any child we can discuss how we are going to support and go forwards. We encourage parents/carers to use Tapestry as an additional form of communication.
We work on each child's strengths and interests. We have an experienced staff team and our SENCO works alongside the child's key person with adapted activities to meet an individual child's needs.
We would adapt the activities depending on the child's needs and would discuss this within the setting with parents/carers. We adopt a graduated approach to help a child's learning and development.
We work with the relevant support services to help each child's individual needs. This includes Educational Psychology Service, Speech and Language Therapist, EDIT team and other settings that the child may attend.
Each child has an online learning journal that is added to on a regular basis. The parents/carers are notified when an observation has been added and we encourage parents/carers to add observations from home. We monitor and observe the children on a daily basis to see areas where a child may need additional support. We have regular parents evenings and encourage parents/carers to communicate with us should they have any concerns.
At Acres we try to adapt all activities so that they are inclusive to all. We will do a risk assessment on specific activities/children if required and where possible will always follow the child's lead.
We have ramps in place, although we do have some upstairs areas that can only be accessed via the stairs.
When our children move on, we encourage the child's next key person/teacher to come and visit us so that we can share information about them. We will also complete and send them a transition/leaving report about the child, this includes their development stages, interests and possible next steps for learning and development. We complete small group activities with the children and where possible we will work in partnership with the new setting to show the children photos of their new environment.
Feedback from parents/carers is always encouraged, along with any other feedback from professionals that we work partnership with.
Rebecca Pritchard - Nursery Manager. Please give us a call to discuss your child's individual needs and to see if we are the most suitable setting to meet the requirements that you are looking for. We can then organise for you to come and visit our setting.
We have an open door policy for all. Parents/carers should get in touch as soon as possible if they have a concern/complaint. We have regular newsletters and questionnaires requesting parental feedback. We like to get feedback from all parents/carers including both compliments and any suggestions for improvements that we can look into.
