Resourced Provision for Specific Literacy Difficulties - ACE - Trinity School
Last updated: 20/11/2023
The ACE Provision at Trinity School delivers intensive, structured, specialist intervention for pupils with severe and long standing specific learning difficulties (dyslexia).
The ACE Resource has space for 30 students in years 7-13. In Year 7, students benefit from ten hours a week of high quality teaching within a small group setting in classrooms within ACE. Seven of these hours are dedicated to literacy teaching with the remaining hours being used to deliver highly differentiated humanities lessons. In Year 8, students receive six hours a week of literacy teaching in ACE. All of our ACE students are then supported by TAs within mainstream lessons. Small group teaching helps students to realise that they are not unique in their difficulties and supports them in adjusting to secondary school life.
All ACE students are regularly reviewed and progress is monitored to help tailor intervention. ACE staff work closely with mainstream teachers to ensure lessons are differentiated and students appropriately supported.
ACE also offer a homework club to students who need extra support with tasks. ELSA is available within ACE to those students who may require greater support with social and emotional issues.
It is of great importance to all ACE staff that communication with parents/carers is regular and that trusting relationships are built between Trinity, ACE and home. We welcome contact via emails or telephone calls and are extremely willing to discuss all matters no matter how small. In this way, all students are fully supported at all times and parents are able to play an active role in supporting the work of the provision.
