Community Larder in Thatcham

Last updated: 11/01/2023

A great way for people to get the food they need at a very reasonable price. The larders are open one afternoon a week, and members can come in and choose items like tins, packets and supermarket surplus products, as well as a selection of fresh fruit and vegetables.  Community larders are not means-tested.

The larder teams will alert people to what’s available on social media the day before they’re open so people can make time to pop along and pick up some real treats.

Volunteers at the larders can also signpost members with debt issues and healthy eating ideas to relevant information and advice, as well as offering a welcoming place to simply come and get to know others in your neighbourhood.

Volunteering

We’re always looking for volunteers and welcome students and other young people looking to build confidence for future employability.  Community larders have wellbeing at the heart of the project.
