Hi, I’m Laura, an Ofsted registered Childminder, my Husband and I are both enhanced DBS checked & I am fully insured through PACEY. I have a full clean driving license with business class insurance.

I am creative, fun and caring with a lot of patience. My hobbies are reading, cooking, arts and crafts & singing and I love birds!

I live in Thatcham in a quiet cul-de-sac situated in Kennet Heath with my Husband Steve and our beautiful Daughter, who is 10years old. We also have an older daughter who is 21 who comes to visit regularly with our Grandson x

I have been a childminder for 9 years, so i have lots of experience,  I feel I also have a lot of parenting experience which I feel is invaluable.

Our home is warm, safe and spacious with opportunities for messy play, reading and playing with toys as well as enjoying the nearby park and nature walks.

Early Years Private, Voluntary & Independent Settings

1: How does the setting identify children with additional needs or SEND?

I observe all the children in my care, I record their development using an online system called Tapestry and use development trackers in paper form so that i can clearly see if a child is falling behind in any area of learning.

2: How will I be informed / consulted about the ways in which my child is being supported?

I will continue to work closely with the parents to involve and liaise with them. I am always willing to learn more so I will follow advice from professionals and training. I am also a member of PACEY who offer me a range of extra course I can participate in. I will give your child confidence, encouragement and as much support as I possibly can. I will help them achieve their learning goals and help them gain self esteem, Independence which will help with their school life ahead.

3: How will the setting adapt the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum for my child's needs?

All activities/experiences are identified through the observation, assessment and planning cycle and through regular discussion with parents and their children to identify individual interests. Activities are adapted accordingly to encourage all the children to participate when possible, irrelevant of their age and stage of development.

4: What teaching strategies does the setting use for children with additional needs or learning difficulties?

Activities are adapted accordingly to encourage all the children to participate when possible, irrelevant of their age and stage of development. I work closely alongside parents, other professional and relevant agencies to ensure that each child’s individual needs are supported.

5: What additional support does the setting provide for children with additional needs or SEND?

Activities are adapted accordingly to encourage all the children to participate when possible, irrelevant of their age and stage of development.

6: How will the setting monitor my child's progress and how will I be involved in this?

I use WhatsApp to keep in contact with parents daily, although we are no longer required to record children learning/progress I use development matters and birth to 5 to track children progress.

7: How do you ensure children with additional needs or SEND can be included in the same activities as other children, including trips?

I treat every child the same but adapt activities and trips to there abilities, individual health and needs. All trips are risk assessed but before taking the child out on the trip I always seek advice and guidance from the parent so the child is safe, secure and able to benefit from the trip by enjoying themselves while learning

8: How accessible is the building for children with mobility difficulties / wheelchair users?

There is a raised door frame to the front entrance of property and step at the rear entrance to the garden . Currently no access for children with severe mobility difficulties/ wheelchair users.

9: How will you support my child's transition to a new setting or school?

I work closely alongside parents, other professional and relevant agencies and ensure good communication and information sharing so that each child’s individual needs are supported during times of transition.

10: How does the setting assess the overall effectiveness of its SEN provision and how can parents / carers take part in this evaluation?

Self-evaluation is used regularly to assess the effectiveness of the setting, service and activities/experiences on offer. Parents and children are actively encouraged to feedback and comment, through the use of daily diaries, learning journeys, development records, learning stories, emails, texts and questionnaires relating to the quality of the provision.

11: Who should I contact if I am considering registering for a place at the setting?

Laura Webb 07796366455 pinkdivaprincess@sky.com or find me on Facebook 'Laura's Childminding'

12: What arrangements does the setting have for feedback from parents / carers, including compliments and complaints?

Parents are fully aware of my complaints procedure, but I would rather that they would talk to me first to resolve anything that they are not happy with. I gain regular feedback from parents and I also have complaints forms where they can let me know in what areas they feel that I could improve in. I also recommend feedback while chatting to them as we have a very good working relationship where they know that I like to hear feed back and to hear what they think about my service to their child in my setting.
