Early Years Private, Voluntary & Independent Settings

1: How does the setting identify children with additional needs or SEND?

All children are supported to reach their individual potential. Observations and asessments are carried out to identify individual next steps. My understanding of child development enables me to idantify children whommay need additional support in order for them to fully access the EYFS curriculum.

2: How will I be informed / consulted about the ways in which my child is being supported?

I will be informed by the parents and any professionals supporting the child/children.

3: How will the setting adapt the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum for my child's needs?

I will deliver the EYFS according to each child age and ability.

4: What teaching strategies does the setting use for children with additional needs or learning difficulties?

Each child’s needs would be discussed before childcare commenced and with ongoing observations. I would adapt activities to ensure all children an able to participate.

5: What additional support does the setting provide for children with additional needs or SEND?

I will support the child wherever necessarry depending on their individual specific need.

Through observations and very good communication between all people supporting the child.

7: How do you ensure children with additional needs or SEND can be included in the same activities as other children, including trips?

I would assess what adaptations or equipment may be needed to ensure the child is safe, comfortable and included. Risk assessments are done before any trips or outings are made.

8: How accessible is the building for children with mobility difficulties / wheelchair users?

The is no access and no downstairs toilet.
