Crabtree Pre-School
Last updated: 16/01/2023
We offer an Inclusive Practice welcoming all children and their families, providing an environment in which all children are supported to reach their full potential. We value and acknowledge individuality.
We are situated in Hermitage, close to the Army Camp (next to the existing Cost Cutter shop) and take children from Army families and the local community.
We are in a purpose built building that has an all weather garden situated to the rear, which allows free flow play between inside and outside.
Although we have made some policy changes in order to comply with the COVID-19 guidelines, we are currently operating our normal daily sessions and have the capacity to take up to 26 children in the mornings (Monday - Friday) and 12 children in the afternoons (Tuesdays and Thursdays, until 4.15pm) and 16 children on a Wednesday (until 4.15pm.)
We offer a lunch club every day.
We are able to offer up to 26-29 hours of government funding.

Early Years Private, Voluntary & Independent Settings
We use a Graduated Response System of : Identify - Assess -Respond.
We liase with parents so that there is a two-way system of sharing information.
Key people observe their children and track development and progess.
With the support of parents, we may seek advice from external agencies to help us identify additional needs and SEND.
The child's SENCO/Manager/Key person will liaise with parents on a regular basis.
SAPP's are formulated with the above people and monitored and reviewed regularly. SAPP's are produced 2-3 times per year.
We aim to create and maintain "positive relationships" with parents by regular contact/meetings. In addition, we have parent consultation twice a year and child progress reports, two year old reports and transition reports. Staff are available to talk to parents every day when necessary and we have a private office to use for meetings etc.
We implement differentiated curriculum to meet all individual needs and abilities.
Each case is dealt differently to meet the child's and families individual needs.
Examples may include:
More 1:1 time with key person, modelling of clear consise speech, gestures/signing, photo timelines, visual aids and sensory equipment.
See above answer.
Any advice received from external agencies will be incorporated into the setting.
Observations and evaluations on progress made.
All children have current "Next Steps" which are reviewed and updated reguarly.
SAPP's may be put into place with clear, specific and achievable outcomes. (SAPP's are written by SENCo, key person and parents.)
All these methods are reviewed regularly with parents.
Evaluation and Risk Assessments are carried out on the activity and where possible we adapt the activity to suit individual needs.
Sensory equipment is provided where neccessary.
Extra help can be sort from Parent Helpers.
We are accessible from the rear of the building with double back gate and ramp for wheel chairs. We have double back doors giving wide access area into the building.
Our building is open plan and on ground level.
We liase with the new setting. We invite them into our setting to share observations, SAPP's and Learning Journeys (with parental permission)
We would support any visits to the new setting.
We monitor and review our practise with regular staff meetings.
We complete annual self -evaluation of our setting.
We liase with parents and encourage feedback from them.
We review/rewrite our Policies and Procedures and Standards annually.
Staff attend relevant couses and read relevent publications to keep up-to-date.
We liase with other professionals ie. Speech & Language Therapists & Pre-School Teacher Councellors to assess how we implement strategies and how successful they are.
The first point of contact is our Administrator.
Our telephone number is :01635 204387
Our Email address is crabtree-ps@btconnect.com
Our website address is: www.crabtreepreschool.wix.com/crabtree-preschool
You would then be invited to discuss your child's individual needs with our Manager, your child's future Key Person and the pre-schools SENCO.
We always have members of staff available to speak to parents and carers. We have a private office in which we can do this.
We annually send out Parent Questionnaires to ask what we do well and what we can improve on.
If we do recieve a complaint and it can not be sorted out verbally and rectified immediatley we do have a Complaints System. These are in our Policies and Procedures and can be found on our website. (See above.)
