Art and Craft courses from Creative Communities (South East) C.I.C.

Last updated: 20/06/2023

Creative Communities (South East) C.I.C was born out of a joint love for all things creative and a passion for designing and delivering courses for all adults including those suffering from a range of mental and physical challenges.

Creative Communities currently offer a range of different programmes; The Reconnect Programme which is delivered in West Berkshire Council care homes and day centres, along with a Creative Wellbeing programme, which is split into three areas; one aimed at adults living with mental health challenges, one aimed at parents of school aged children who may be struggling with financial worries, stress, anxiety, depression, loneliness and/ or low esteem and another aimed at adults with special educational needs. All programmes are delivered across West Berkshire, as well as some in Hampshire and Oxfordshire.

Creative Wellbeing

The Creative Wellbeing Programme for adults who are living with mental health challenges is delivered across West Berkshire in Thatcham, Newbury, Calcot, Theale and Hungerford. Courses are either run in ten week blocks, or across the academic year in 18 sessions, which are delivered fortnightly, with learning sessions in between. The Creative Wellbeing Programme for parents of school aged children is delivered within schools and community family hubs and run in 6, 8 or 10 week blocks. The Creative Wellbeing Programme for adults with special educational needs is run in Thatcham and Newbury and is currently delivered on a weekly basis in blocks of ten weeks.

This programme is all about discovering new creative skills to help improve our mental, physical, emotional and social wellbeing, as well as meeting new people through a shared interest, in a fun and informal environment. Sessions are designed around improving our wellbeing, through structured therapeutic art activities. Participants are not required to have any previous knowledge of understanding of art. The courses are all about discovering the enjoyment of being creative and how to use that creativity as a tool to help us live more positive and fulfilled lives.

Over the duration of the course participants will cover skills such as watercolour painting, sketching and drawing, ceramics, crafts such as Macrame, Needle Felting, Crochet, pastels, acrylic painting, paper and collage, painting techniques and so much more.

Full list of new courses starting from September will be available on our website soon.
