Getting to know a child and by using the EYFS framework enables me to make observations of a child's development that may help towards identifying any additional needs or SEND, along with working with the parents/carers who play an important part as their knowledge and understanding of their child is essential.
I use a diary for communicating with a I use an online Learning Journey profile which is based on the EYFS framework and records a childs achievements and developments. This is available for parents using a secure individual password and enables them to see how their child is developing and to advise me on events at home and of any suggestions that will help to assist their child further. The journal is also used to record daily details such as eating, sleeping times, toileting etc
Each child is unique and may develop at different rates, therefore I would adapt an activity so that they can achieve goals relevant to them but still be included whilst planning to progress their development by enhancing/changing the activity in the future.
I would work with the parents/ schools or learning centre so that I can learn and understand from them how they have approached or planned strategies.
If it is an area that I haven't had experience in then I would seek advice or courses that would help me learn and put into practise the skills I have learnt enabling a child to reach their goals and potential.
I am happy to work with a family and their child along with any professionals who are also working with the family and participate in any training I may need to enable me to give any additional support a child and their family may need.
By the use of daily online diary and Learning Journey profiles which are available each day and online by the parent/carer. Verbal communication at a convenient time or by appointment with the parent/carer to discuss their child's progress and how we can work together to ensure we are all going in the same direction to enable their child to achieve, progress and develop further both in my setting and at home.
Any activity or trip can be adapted to ensure that everyone is included. This may require forward planning and an additional adult to help. Part of the planning will include imput from the parent/carer as their knowledge of their child is important to the success of an activity or trip and to their childs inclusion, development and overall well being.
Unfortunatly my home is not adapted to help children with mobility difficulties or wheelchair users.
By talking and listening to your child on how they feel about going to school and about the children we take and pick up from school can help ease anxieties or worries. Also by the use of visual aids such as books, TV programmes or apps/ stories on an iPad.
I can also assist with visits to the new setting or school.
By monitoring a child's development and recording the progress made by a child. An example of this is repeating an activity that has been extended to enable a child to reach new goals. With the parents imput of achievements/struggles at home we can discuss and also record in their Learning Journal, this will provided vital information to enable planning the next steps and assess if the provisions I am providing are meeting all of the child's needs.

Parents can either speak to me directly, send me an email or use their daily diaries, parents can also make comments in their child's online learning journal and/or my comments book.
If they would prefer to inform Ofsted then they can contact them direct using the details given to them at the start of their contract with me or from the poster displayed in my setting.
Should they feel the need to make a complaint which could not be resolved between ourselves then I have the appropriate form and procedure available for them to use/follow.
