Interakt Community Charity - Film Making

Last updated: 27/02/2024

Enter all wannabe Steven Spielbergs! During our film-making session, our participants learn about all aspects of TV and film making, broadening horizons and giving relevance to this important media form. Learning about everything from concept through to publishing, the participants can become presenters, cameramen, and editors within a safe and supportive environment. This is a workshop rooted in the 21st century offering modern techniques and processes that provide relevance.

There are many skills for development including building on the confidence required for public speaking, gaining a greater understanding of societal norms and expectations, and perfecting important technical skills such as how to successfully use a microphone.

The film club will often edit and create DVDs for other groups within the InteraKt Community, for example, by filming our annual fashion show or creating a DVD of one of our theatre performances.

We offer a holistic approach to meet the needs of each individual regardless of their ability; we provide exciting opportunities, friendships, fun, creativity, confidence, and an increased sense of empowerment.

We have a wide range of creative and life skills classes on offer. Our team would love to welcome you to join in the fun. Visit our website at https://interakt.org.uk  to find out more or contact us at enquiries@interakt.co.uk

Interakt supports young adults and adults with learning disabilities.  This generic terminology refers to a whole range of challenges which may impact learning, social skills, confidence, physical ability, sensory challenges, life skills and work experience. Free taster sessions are highly recommended as we are convinced that it has to be the right choice in order to benefit and embrace one's potential, to have fun, make new friends and live life to the fullest.

Referral Details

Interakt does not require a referral as our sessions are for everyone and if an individual has very complex needs then with support from WBC Adult Social Care a specific care plan will be commissioned.

Other notes

For those transitioning from College to Adult Social Care contact WBC Adult Social Care and request a list from the transitioning team which will have details of Day Providers, their activities, sessions, days and times.  Remember that your provision is your choice therefor make time to research and book a free taster session with those providers which you want to explore further.  For those already in the Adult Social Care sector who require another service from a different provider to what they already have, contact Adult Social Care and ask to speak to your social worker or care manager with your query or request.  The most important thing is for each individual to access a service that is of their own choice that each individual is informed of a variety of provisions in order to make an informed choice which works best for them.
