Leisure and Recreation

In this section we have a range of leisure and recreational activities for you to take part in, ranging from art and craft activities to something more active in the sporting range. There are some groups which are specifically for those children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and also those which are all inclusive. Whatever you choose to do, getting out and about and taking part can make a real difference to a child or young person as well as the whole family.  You will find activities local to you and also within our neighbouring boroughs. Please also view the Families section for further information via the link. We also have a SEND Local Offer newsletter which is published before the end of each term which you will find in our news carousel, if you would like to receive this directly as soon as it is published then please contact fis@westberks.gov.uk to be included on our mailing list. Also keep an eye on our Facebook page too for additional information of events etc.

According to Sport England, almost 93% of disabled people in England don't currently take part in regular physical activity. Making sure disabled children and young people are included in sport and leisure activities is a high priority for us.

In West Berkshire, we define the term Sports & Activities as anything that gets someone interested and active. Activities come in wide range of different forms and can mean many different things. There are lots of great activities that you can get involved in across West Berkshire and most are inclusive.

We aim to offer you the same opportunities and choices as those for non-disabled people. This includes, whenever possible, providing you with dedicated, inclusive sport and physical activity sessions at our leisure centres and other clubs and venues available across West Berkshire.
